Student intake for training at the Industrial Training Institute, Department of Human Resources (ILJTM) is conducted twice a year, in January and July (subject to changes). Intake advertisements will be published on our website and/or in local newspapers three months before the intake date.

What facilities are available for students?
In each section, there is a workshop equipped with machines and equipment as well as a computer lab for training and internet access facilities using the Institute's Wi-Fi. Learning sessions are also conducted in lecture rooms in each section. Apart from that, we also provide a Main Lecture Hall and a Multi-Purpose Hall to be used for any organised activity. Accommodation facilities ( male and female dormitories) are also provided along with a Dining Hall, Surau, and Sports facilities for the comfort of students.
How long does it take to complete the training?
The set period is between 1 year and 3 years 6 months, but it depends on the program you wish to undertake.
What is the age limit for training at ILJTM?
JTM, in principle, does not set any age limit to enable all communities to follow training at ILJTM, in accordance with the slogan of lifelong learning. However, due to certain reasons such as granting loans and so on, the age limit needs to be set, which is between 17 years and 35 years (depending on the program you want to enroll). However, those who do not qualify with the age limit can still participate in training in some programs such as short-term training offered at ILJTM.
What is the difference between the skills system carried out between ILP and academic stream institutions?
At ILJTM, the learning process is based on 70% skills and 30% theory. Most of the learning here gives students the opportunity to do the work themselves to give them experience to face a real work environment. For that purpose, laboratories and workshops are equipped with machines and equipment used in the industrial sector. Graduates of this institute will be awarded Malaysian Skills Certificate level 1, 2 and 3 by JPK and Technology Certificate by JTM.
Do the courses run guarantee employment?
All the courses conducted are based on the training standards set by JPK. The courses conducted are also suitable for employment in the private sector (industry). According to our statistics, a total of 80% of ILJTM graduates successfully get a job after 6 months of training in various industry sectors.
Who is responsible for issuing the certificate after completing the training?
Certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of training by government such as the Malaysian Vocational Training Council (SKM Level 1 and 2) and also the Industrial Technician Certificate from the Skills Development Department (JPK).
Is this skill area recognized by the Skills Development Department?
Yes, all courses conducted at ILJTM are recognised by the Skills Development Department (JPK - formerly known as MLVK) and an additional bonus for those who follow training at ILJTM where there are additions to the subjects taught so that the students are better prepared to face the world of work later.
Where to after ILP ?
ILP graduates have very bright and attractive opportunities in the industry as technicians and assistant technicians. They also have the opportunity to continue their studies to SKM levels 3, 4 and 5 which are equivalent to diplomas and degrees such as ADTEC, JMTI, GMI, MFI, CIAST, IKTBN and several universities.
