Computer Technology (Network)

This course focuses on current Networking Computer Technology to meet the demands of highly competitive industries. The program is designed to introduce students to theory and practice in the concepts, design, implementation, and maintenance of computer networks.

Students will learn about Hardware Knowledge, Computer Organization, Basics of Networks, Internet Services, Switching and Routing, Network Design, Server Management, and Network Security. They will also be exposed to the use of open-source software in Open-Source Operating System and Database System.

The program will also expose students to Computing Requirements, Programming Principles, Basics of Programming and Network Programming, Entrepreneurship, as well as Design and Analysis of Projects.

The Computer Technology Division (Network) provides facilities:

  • 4 computer laboratories (air-conditioned).
  • 1 server maintenance and fiber optic cabling laboratory (air-conditioned).
  • 1 network wiring and computer installation laboratory (air-conditioned).
  • 1 Router and Routing Configuration laboratory (air-conditioned).
  • 1 PC Maintenance laboratory (air-conditioned).
  • Well-equipped workshops.
  • Computers provided are up to date with the latest specifications and equipped with industry-used software.
  • Training provided by Lecturers/Experts recognized by the Department of Skills Development (JPK)

 

Certification

  • Industrial Technician Certificate by the Department of Human Resources (JTM).
  • Computer Network Diploma by the Department of Human Resources (JTM).
  • Malaysian Skills Certificate Level 3 and Level 4 by the Department of Skills Development (JPK).
  • Students will be assessed based on the CGPA and GPA systems.

Job Prospects

  • Job opportunities primarily exist in the field of computer network technology, network management, information security, support services, and interactive multimedia that can be applied to various careers in business and the ICT industry.
  • Graduates of this course can work as Maintenance Personnel, Network Support Personnel, Network Administrators, Information Technology Support Executives, Computer Technical Assistants, IT Support Engineers, Network Support Assistants, IT Developers, and Help Desk personnel.
  • They also have the opportunity to further their education to obtain Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 4 (equivalent to a Diploma) and Level 5 (equivalent to a Degree) at advanced skills institutes such as ADTEC, JMTI, and others.
